Description

1 item (originally illustrating print of Lieutenant General L Smyth's despatch number 322 of 6 November 1883) extracted from CO 879/21/6. Map of part of South West Africa, showing land (now in Namibia) bought by Captain B Sinclair in 1863 from David Christian, Chief of Bethany, for his employers, Messrs De Pass, Spence & Co, of Cape Town. The purchased land covers an area from Angra Pequena Bay to Angras Juntas Bay and inland to 15°50'E. Scale:1 inch to about 12 miles. Lithographed by Dangerfield, Covent Garden.
