Marlborough [to St John]: he encloses a resolution of the states [general] [SP 87/6/121] on the three Saxon battalions King Augustus wants to withdraw and copies of his own letters to the king [SP 87/6/119] and to Count Fleming [SP 87/6/120]. It will be seen by Marlborough's letter to Mr. [James] Scott [SP 87/6/118] that the king and his ministers have been prepared for these letters. Offer of infantry and cavalry from the duke of Mecklenburg. Unsuccessful attack on Douai by Villars. Progress of the siege. Dated at camp before Bouchain. ff. 250, 251
