Marlborough to Boyle: he will forward the queen's letter to the elector palatine. The news in Ghent also is that the duke of Burgundy is to command on this front. The elector is to go to the Rhine or Moselle, and de Villars is to command in Italy. The transports with the horses have arrived at Willemstad, and he has ordered Lieutenant General Wood to make haste to the respective garrisons. He has received a letter from the Russian ambassador [to London], M. de Matueof, and encloses a copy [SP 87/3/16]. A meeting between himself, Prince Eugene a deputy of the states general and [Baron] Urbick, a minister of the czar, on the admission of Russia into the grand alliance. He encloses a minute taken by Prince Eugene at this meeting [SP 87/3/17]. It will be best to await the outcome of the war between Russia and Sweden. Dated at Ghent. ff. 32-34
