Folio 161: Stormont to Weymouth. An embarrassed Maurepas confessed that La Fayette had again escaped. Stormont said this was due to half-measures. He told Vergennes that the activities of the Lexington and the Reprisal and the number of drafts drawn by La Fayette created a very bad impression in England.
