Folio 262: Shelburne to Durand. The captain of the Chère Marie admits having a cargo of furs. French ships are allowed by treaty only to trade in fishing and Britain forbids goods to be exported in foreign ships. Palliser was very lenient in releasing the ship on payment of the costs of the case and of revictualling for the return to France.
