Folio 214: Pitt to Stanley. France is delaying negotiations with Britain, in order to push her one great operation in Germany. She has no right to meddle in Britain's relations with Spain. Stanley is to restate to Choiseul the unalterable points listed in f.136. A decision must be made soon. Meanwhile, transports are being sent to Amherst. Refers to the surrender of Pondicherry [f.197]. Encloses ultimatum in reply to f.187. Stanley is to warn of his possible withdrawal. He has discretion to discuss Dunkirk, but not beyond the terms of the treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle. He may offer reasonable co-operation for France to obtain negroes. Encloses copies of ff.208, 210, 212, also Gazettes giving the circumstances of `the great and glorious event in Westphalia'. Dominica has been taken.
