Folio 209: [A British spy] to [?]. O'Brien reveals Jacobite hopes that the Hanover alliance will disintegrate, and that they will be able to profit from a war situation; hopes of the accession of Charles Frederick Duke of Holstein to the Swedish throne with the help of Russian troops and coastal galleys, and an eventual alliance between Russia and Sweden with the Empire and Spain concurring. The British and Danish combined fleets should be ineffective against the Russian [shallow-draft] galleys; Prussia would be likely to leave the Alliance of Hanover; [Atterbury] distressed by the apparent détente between Britain and Spain; British naval threat to Spanish galleon convoy may be the cause; Kurakin, while promising to try and help the Pretender is apparently working towards a better understanding between Russia and Britain.
