Folio 113: Wickfort to [Williamson]. Progress of treaty negotiations. Pessimistic view of Anglo-Dutch relations. England drawn into war with Spain by the royal marriage. Dutch putting their fleet into order so as not to fear England's navy. Charles II in dire financial straits and has borrowed £2,000,000 from the City of London; he is seeking peace between Spain and Portugal. Gamarra is at the Hague instead of in London, and pursuing an alliance with Austria or the Empire; overtures made by giving satisfaction to Cologne and Neuburg. Dispute between Brandenburg and Holland. No foreign minister wanted by Poland at the Diet of Warsaw, but the Emperor has sent a representative. Expected arrival of Prince of Taranto; son of M. de Sueril is going to France. Date and place: 1662 Mar 8 Hague
