Administrative / biographical background

The Forestry Commission Journal was published from 1922 to 1939 and from 1948 to 1969, publication being suspended during the Second World War and its aftermath. It included information on the Commission's activities and technical articles. Following a review of the Commission's publication policy it was decided that the Journal should be discontinued and the information included in other publications. The last issue of the Journal was 1968/1969.

The journal was replaced by a monthly news-sheet, Slasher, which includes topical news, staff moves and other events, and technical articles can now be found in publications such as Forest Records and Research and Development Papers.
