An Advisory Committee on Forest Research was established by the commission in December 1929 at the instance of the Research Co-ordination Sub-committee of the Committee of Civil Research. It is composed of leading authorities on forestry and allied subjects.
Since 1925 the Forestry Commission has co-operated with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, in the establishment of the representative collection of conifers forming the National Pinetum at Bedgebury in Kent. It is administered by a committee including representatives of both parent organisations.
