Description

Letters patent fulfilling the King's intention of giving effect to the exemption for life, granted by letters patent, 29 July 1309 at the instance of Gilbert de Clare, Earl of Gloucester and Hertford, to Robert Persone, citizen of London, of exemption from all tallages, etc within and without the City of London and from being put on assizes, etc and being made mayor, etc (see Calendar of Patent Rolls, 1307-1313, p 179) and from any assessment from the City of London to the King. By writ of Privy Seal. Dated at Northampton.
