Records of the Royal Commission on Durham University, 1934-1935, and of a preliminary enquiry held in 1933 into the administration of the University of Durham College of Medicine.
The first part of this series covers the events up to the appointment of the commission. The second part includes memoranda preparatory to the inquiry and correspondence statements and memoranda from various persons and bodies concerned in the inquiry. The third part deals with oral evidence submitted by witnesses and correspondence relating thereto.
Chronological in three parts.
In most cases, written evidence to which reference is made will not be found among these papers and it must be assumed that this material is no longer extant.

A Royal Commission was appointed in 1934 to inquire into the constitution and government of Durham University as a means of resolving the difficulties which had, over a period of years, disrupted the unity of the university.
