Files relating to earlier provisions organised by Local Education Authorities under the Regulations for Further Education were classified as "Teachers Classes" files. This material and the majority of papers prior to 1935 of the subsequent series of "Teachers Short Courses" files have been destroyed. For the period 1936-1954 complete files of two Local Education Authorities only have been preserved as representative specimens.
Short courses were provided for teachers by Local Education Authorities as part of their arrangements for further education under the Further Education Grant Regulations.
