Long account of the Portuguese quarrel with the Holy See, the disgrace of the two natural sons of King John V, the expulsion of the Jesuits and the disgrace of their sympathisers. Involvement of the Jesuits in the dispute over Paraguay and the attempt on King Joseph's life. More criticism of the French ambassador.
