Folio 399: Sir Thomas Robinson to A. Castres. King has revoked Consul Crowle's commission and replaced him by Hay, who will arrive soon from Cadiz. He is to protest strongly to Carvalho over the deportation of Shirley and to demand that the latter be allowed to return immediately. He is to remit forthwith a detailed clarification of the points still in dispute at Lisbon between the government and the British traders.
