Folio 250: Thomas Burnett to Duke of Newcastle. Encloses copies of correspondence concerning the redress of the grievances of British subjects at Madeira (ff.252-259). Arrival of the Bahia Fleet, but loss of the Santa Rosa, with nearly 600 men and gold valued at three or five millions of cruzados. British naval movements. Destruction of the Marquis of Valença's magnificent palace by fire.
