Description

Folio 145: Carteret to Wich. Guy-Dickens doing his utmost at Stockholm in favour of the Administraror, awaiting Buchwalk to co-operate in this matter. The danger is lest the French party who act now more vigorously for the Duke of Deux Ponts and who prefer even thePrince Royal of Denmark to the candidate of the Czarina, should carry the election against him. D'Alion, Pechlin, the French Ambassador there, are all dead set against the Administrator and would rather continue the war than take that Prince from the Czarina even with the restitution of Finland. Dated Whitehall, 11 Jan 1743.
