Folio 103: Rondeau to Townshend. Rejoicings for coronation. Following day public audience of all foreign ministers in great ceremony. Only Count Bondé, General Tessine and Baron Crame have received new credentials. At first a collation in garden of Summer Palace, later a ball. Czarina left at 11 p.m. to see illuminations. Illuminated triumphal arch erected by duke of Liria was magnificant. Osterman given estate previously owned by Prince Menshikoff by Czarina, and she has made him a count. Field Marshal Golicyn given large estate also. These gentlemen always our friends and know true interests of Russia. Count Lowenwolde has been made Great Marshal of Czarina's household - formerly chamberlain to the king of Prussia, who sent him his order of the Black Eagle which the Czarina gave to him with her own hands. These particulars are of note, as he is entirely devoted to the king of Prussia and it would be in our interest if Baron Mardefeld could engage him to dissuade the Czarina from sending troops to Emperor. Duke of Liria open and friendly to me but does everything he can to ruin Vienna at this court. Dated Moscow, 4 May 1730.
