Two letters from W Napier, Lieutenant Governor of Guernsey, regarding the sending of officers to visit prisons. A letter transmitting a correspondence with Peter Carey, Bailiff of Guernsey, regarding certain orders allowing the governor to demand access for himself and his proper officers to all prisoners in gaols, stating that he send the captain of prisoners, under his authority to examine the health of prisoners in solitary confinement. He requests the opinion of the royal courts as to his right to send officers to the gaols.
