Description

Liu K'ai-yü to C. Elliot. Transmits edict by Lin Tse-hsü and Teng T'ing-cheng: are shocked to learn that British ships, ostensibly exercising their cannon, have damaged a Chinese war junk in three places; as Elliot is still in Canton and probably not expecting such an incident, they are reluctant to act except to require a report on the incident and the handing over of offenders.
