The administration of British Aden passed from the Government of India to the Colonial Office in 1937, but responsibility for relations with the Aden Protectorate (made up of the territories adjoining the British possessions of Little Aden and Perim Island) had already passed from the Foreign Office to the Colonial Office in 1921.
