(1) 'Memo relative to the House purchased from M rs Whipple, by the War Department at Simons Town :- furnished in obedience to I.G.F's [Inspector General of Fortifications] Mem o dated War Office 20 September 1870 ...': note on the structure, age and purchase price of the building. Signed Colonel C Fanshawe, Commanding Royal Engineer, South Africa, 9 November 1870. (2) 'Record Plan Simon's Town... House acquired from M rs. Whipple Deed of transfer 11 th November 1868 ...': plans and sections. Scales: plans: 1 inch to 10 feet; sections: 1 inch to 5 feet. Compass indicators.
