Description

Cyprus. Four maps. 'Carte de l'Ile de Chypre dressée par M.L. de Mas Latrie pour servir à l'Histoire de l'Ile de Chypre sous le règne des princes de la maison de Lusignan 1862': map of the history of Cyprus during the reign of the house of Lusignan showing terrain, towns, villages, ancient ruins etc; and the routes taken by Pococke, 1738; Drummond, 1747; Mariti, 1768; Ali-Bey, 1807; Callier, 1833; Cerruti, 1844-1847; Mas Latrie, 1845-1846; Graves, 1847; Gaudry and Damour, 1854; and Vogué and Waddington, 1862. Reference tables of conventional signs, abbreviations and key to explorers' routes. Original map lithographed by the Imprimerie Impériale, [Paris]; and stamped on (1), (2) and (4): War Office Library; and Intelligence Branch, Quarter Master General's Department; both dated 23 October 1876. All photozincographed at the Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton, 1878. Post printing stamps on (1), (2) and (4): Inspector General of Fortifications; and 'For War Department purposes only'. Minor variations are described at item level.
