Southern Africa. Two maps printed on a single sheet, showing Africa south of Victoria Falls. (A) 'A Map of the Gold Fields of South Eastern Africa by T. Baines, F.R.G.S. [Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society] ...'. Approximate scale: 1 inch to 35 miles [1:2,217,600]. MS colouring. (B) 'Cape Colony': showing existing and projected railways in Cape Colony (now Cape Province in the Republic of South Africa) and adjoining countries. Approximate scale: 1 inch to 46 miles [1:2,914,560]. MS colouring; MS pencil additions show site of the Battle of Rorke's Drift, 21 January 1879.
