Description

Western Europe: 15th Air Division report Allied thrust via Hallenberg in direction of Mederbach and Winterberg, preparations for destruction of secret documents and equipment, Mar 29; Kesselring's orders for blocking on line running north-south between points west of Kessel and north of Frankfurt, putting in last man and gun, Mar 27; Kesselring's orders for Army Group B to build up new defence line Siegen-Marburg-Giessen following Allied break-through between Siegen and Limburg, Army Group G with newly subordinated 89th Army Corps to defend line Wetzlar-west of Frankfurt, course of Main, Mar 29; Marburg to be reinforced by elements of 166th Infantry Division, Mar 28; 15th Army tank return for Panzer Lehr Division and 2nd and 3rd Panzer Grenadier Divisions, Mar 28; Army Group H reporting Allied break-through west of Haltern, unable to mop up for lack of forces; battle groups being assembled to attack and mop up Allied bridgeheads near Gross Krotzenburg and Dattingen, and to close gap south of Aschaffenburg, Mar 27; Hitler's order for Rhine to be held at all costs where bank still in German hands, particularly Upper Rhine from Mannheim to Swiss frontier, 6,000 recruits from Ersatz Army to 19th Army to be incorporated into 106th, 189th and 708th Divisions, 17th SS Panzer Grenadier Division to be pulled out as previously ordered; Donau Division to assemble in Wallduern-Buchen area for employment in line Miltenberg-Eberbach, Mar 28
