Description

Southern Europe: ammunition shells reveal problems, and reference to German division in Corsica, June 16; German reinforcements being sent to Corsica, June 16; 16th Division Hermann Goering to transfer to Sicily as soon as possible, June 16; 16th Panzer Division located south of Florence, June 8; Kesselring had ordered rapid despatch of units to augment those already in Italian area, June 16; Italian defence orders to effect that German Sardinia Division need not intervene automatically in west coast of Sardinia, June 16; with affect from late June 19 flights prohibited by GAF over Corsica, June 16; GAF reconnaissance of Malta airfields reveal an increase of nearly 50% over average in number of aircraft on June 16.

South-east Europe: Naval Command Dalmatia reports that experience at Pantelleria proved that severe bombing could make supplying of detached outposts impossible, June 15; report on operations by GAF Command South-east on June 15.

Russian Front: GAF air attack on Saratov oil refinery night of June 15.
