North Africa: GAF fighters stretched to limit escorting bombers, Italians flying fighter patrols over German Africa Corps and 90th Light Division as protection against RAF attacks, July 4; Kesselring complaint that promised motor transport had been withdrawn by Panzer Army, pointed out effect on GAF support, July 4; GAF urgent request reinforcements from Crete July 4.

Naval Headlines: operations against convoy PQ17 taken as main target, QP13 to be ignored, July 2; Italian Admiralty intention to use cruiser force in eastern Mediterranean as escort to troop transports, query from PM and reply from ISL.
