Description

H. Stokes [Stowkis] requires the [unnamed] addressee in the Queen's name to make ready the second payment of the subsidy, due on 30 September next, and to pay it to him at Northampton on Tuesday 3 October; and to make ready to pay at the same date the subsidy from the stipendiary wages of any curates. Dated 'the day and year within named.' [Dorse:] Receipt dated 11 January 1564 by Henry Stokes for 26 s. from the parson of Brockhall [Northamptonshire], for the tenths of the same due to the Queen at last Christmas. H. Stokes [Stowkes] requires the [unnamed] addressee in the Queen's name to make ready the third payment of the subsidy, due on 30 September next, and to pay it to him at Northampton on Friday 12 October; and to make ready to pay at the same date the subsidy from the stipendiary wages of any curates at rates specified in the statute. Dated 'the day within named.' [Dorse:] Receipt dated 12 January 1565 by Henry Stokes for 26 s. from the parson of Brockhall [Northamptonshire], for the tenths of the same due to the Queen at last Christmas. Receipt by Henry Stokes for 26s. from the parson of Brockhall [Northamptonshire], for the tenths of the same due to the Queen last Christmas. Dated 16 April 1566. Receipt by John Mottershed for 26s. from the rector of Brockhall [Northamptonshire], for the tenths of the same due to the Queen last Christmas. Dated 21 January 1567.
