Description

Indented agreement between Joan Martyn, widow, and Edward Martyn, her son and heir, and Henry Sture, stating that, should Joan, Edward or their heirs decide to sell or alienate Joan's lands and tenements at Waterman in Ugborough, [Devon], Sture and his heirs shall have full warning and, on payment of 40 marks, the full use of the lands. On 13 May 1523, Joan granted this property to Hugh Fonteyne and Henry Greybear, who are to grant it to John Rowe, sergeant at law, William Edward, John Luscombe the younger, John Lyght, Edmund Sture and William Trenyk, to the use of Joan and Edward for the terms of their lives, with such provisos in favour of Henry.
