Letter patent by Mary I to Thomas Large: Thomas Large is made keeper of two small gardens in the messuage of Newhall or Beaulieu, Essex; he is entitled to a yearly rent of £12, to a house or cottage that used to be the residence of his predecessor, Gasper Dowthyn, pastures for 4 cows, one horse, and he can take the fuel he needs from the wood in the park called New Park.
