Description

Catherine of Waterford (master Walter Butler): master's letter book with accounts.

Butler notes that the Catherine was taken by a French privateer (in [March] 1757), and brought into Spain; he succeeding in getting another ship (brig, name unknown) and was bound for Ireland under Spanish colours in [May] 1757, when taken by an English ship.

This book should be with the papers from that capture, which is as yet unidentified: [see perhaps L'Espéranza or the Queen of Hungary HCA 32/189/18].
