Medical and surgical journal of the Royal Naval Brigade for 27 December 1873 to 18 February 1874 by James William Fisher, Surgeon, during which time the said brigade was employed on shore at the Gold Coast.

Folios 16-24: Surgeon's general remarks. These are given in diary form. The Royal Naval Brigade comprised of 22 officers, 183 seamen, and 69 marines from HMS Active, HMS Amethyst, HMS Argus, HMS Decoy, HMS Druid, and HMS Encounter. The Grand total of the brigade was 'White forces 274, Kroomen 213 and 78 Fantis'.
