Medical and surgical journal of the convict ship Woodford for 13 July to 26 December 1826 by James Dickson, Surgeon, during which time the said ship was employed in the conveyance of convicts, guard and passengers to Van Diemen's Land and New South Wales.
Folios 1-3: Henry West, aged 27, Convict; disease or hurt, febris. Put on sick list, 28 July 1826, Spithead. Discharged cured, 7 August 1826.
Folios 3-6: James Dyer, aged 22, Convict; disease or hurt, febris. Put on sick list, 10 August 1826, at sea. Died, 16 August 1826.
Folios 7-8: Anthony [Mann], aged 22, Convict; disease or hurt, obstipatio. Put on sick list, 10 August 1826, at sea. Discharged cured, 22 August 1826.
Folios 9-10: Godfrey Berrisford, aged 25, Convict; disease or hurt, febris. Put on sick list, 21 August 1826, at sea. Discharged cured, 2 September 1826.

Folios 15-16: Samuel McDonald, aged 23, Convict; disease or hurt, opthalmia. Put on sick list, 15 September 1826, at sea. Discharged cured, 2 October 1826.
Folios 17-18: Michael Sullivan, aged 20, Soldier; disease or hurt, lues venerea. Put on sick list, 24 September 1826, at sea. Discharged to duty, 24 October 1826.
Folios 18-21: Edward Sweeney, aged 21, Soldier of the guard; disease or hurt, hernia humoralis and rheumatismus. Put on sick list, 30 September 1826, at sea. Discharged to duty, 25 October 1826. A young recruit of a delicate constitution and lax fibre. He denies having had gonorrhoea and does not recollect any contusion. Had been on the sick list since before the Woodford sailed with a rheumatic affection of the right elbow with wasting of the muscles of the forearm and humerus.
Folios 21-23: Thomas Hill, aged 22, Convict; disease or hurt, paralysis. Put on sick list, 2 October 1826, at sea. Discharged cured, 12 October 1826. Also suffered from tinea capitis. Seized during the night with complete loss of movement of his left side of his face.
Folios 23-25: Jonathan Higgins, aged 20, Soldier of the guard; disease or hurt, pneumonia. Put on sick list, 10 October 1826, at sea. Discharged cured, 24 October 1826.
Folios 26-27: M Gatton, aged 34, Convict; disease or hurt, pleuritis. Put on sick list, 23 October 1826, at sea. Discharged cured, 29 October 1826.
Folios 27-30: James Cleary, aged 23, Convict of a low stature, slender habit and lax fibre; disease or hurt, pleuritis. Put on sick list, 5 November 1826, at sea. Discharged cured, 24 November 1826.
Folios 31-33: Charles Towns, aged 24, Convict; disease or hurt, abscess. Put on sick list, 6 October 1826, at sea. Discharged cured, 4 November 1826.

Folios 38-40: James Gardner, aged 21, Convict of a low stature and full plethoric habit. ; disease or hurt, febris. Put on sick list, 6 November 1826 at sea. Discharged cured, 17 November 1826.
Folio 41: Abstract of the preceding journal, being a summary of all the cases contained therein. Continued fevers, 5, of which 1 died on board; Rheumatism, 1; Pulmonic inflammation, 3; Opthalmia, 1; Hernia Humoralis, 1; Appoplexia, 1; Paralysis, 1; Lues venerea, 1; Abscess, 1; Obstipatio and dyspepsia, 2.
Folios 41-43: List of sick, temperature and course of the winds, Convict ship Woodford on voyage to New South Wales. List containing daily observations of temperature, wind direction and position of the ship including 124 named cases, with disease and date of discharge, but with observations recorded for days on which no case is named. The convicts were landed on the 27 November in good health. The remaining medical supplies were turned over to the Colonial Stores. The guard were landed at Sydney afterwards.
