2 items extracted from FO 262/2027 (folios 1-2). Japan: Hokkaido: Hakodate. 2 plans of British consular ground, also showing surrounding streets. (1) Outline sketch, giving the area of consular land as 150,460 tsubo. (2) Detailed sketch, on tracing cloth, also showing surrounding properties; areas destroyed and damaged in the fire of 7 December 1879 are marked, along with proposed alterations to the layout of the site and street; key to colouring; reference notes on the distribution of copies of the plan; scale: 1 inch to 50 feet [1:600] (corrected from 1 inch to 40 feet). Compass indicators to both items; south-west at the top. Item 2 signed by F J Marshall, 14 August 1880. Dimensions: (1) 26.5 cm x 29.5 cm; (2) 65.5 cm x 60 cm. Item 2 produced to accompany a memorandum on an agreement of 31 August 1880.
