North America. 3 sketch maps detailing the coastline of Maine (then part of Massachusetts, United States of America) and New Brunswick (now in Canada) relating to a territorial dispute between Britain and the United States of America. (1) 'Extract from Capt. Cyprian Southack's Survey of the Coast': showing the coastline from "Mechisses" [?Machias] River to Saint John River, with soundings and islands; scale: 1 inch to about 7 miles; compass indicator. (2) 'Extract from Mitchel's map of North America': showing the coastline, with islands, rivers (including Kennebec, Penobscot, Saint Croix and Saint John Rivers) lakes, and the boundaries of the district (now the state) of Maine; scale: 1 inch to about 13 miles; compass indicator. (3) 'A True Transcript of a Plan detailing to Capn. John Mitchel Surveyor by His Excellency Francis Barnard Esqr. Governor of the Province of Massachusets Bay for the direction of the Social Surveyor': showing the area around the bay of Saint Croix, marking rivers and "Point Proe" [?Point Lepreau]; scale: 1 inch to about 7 miles. Dimensions: (1) 28.5 cm x 62 cm; (2) 30.5 cm x 44 cm; (3) 22 cm x 62 cm.
