3 items (originally enclosed with a letter from John Mackenzie to Consul-General Sir T Francis, Constantinople, 19 September 1873) extracted from FO 195/1024. 3 sheets of traced plans and sections, relating to the Turkish weapon production. (1) Plan and section of the muzzle plug of a gun. Scale: 1:1. (2) 'Moving gear of the Incorporating Mills at the Imperial powder factory. Baruthane': cross-section. Scale: 1 inch to 1 foot [1:12], showing John Mackenzie's plan for increasing production at the Constantinople (now Istanbul) Gunpowder Factory. (3) Section showing the method of constructing muzzle-loading guns. Scale: 1:5. The correspondence concerned Mackenzie's claim for compensation for being dismissed as the manager of the Imperial Gun Factory; Francis subsequently enclosed it in his despatch number 89, 8 October 1873.
