4 items extracted from FO 141/571 (no 9950). Ottoman Empire. (1), (3)-(4) 3 copies of a map showing the area between 24° and 52°E and between 28° and 44°N. Scale: 1 inch to about 87 miles.. Printed and published by Stanfords Geographical Establishment. Different overprinting, coloured, to each item, showing various proposed boundaries: (1) 'Map to illustrate the agreements of 1916 in regard to Asia Minor, Mesopotamia, etc: Map 1'; reference table to overprinting; (3) 'Map 2'; (4) 'Map 3': marking different areas on the basis of ethnic distribution. (2) 'Map 2A': outline map of the same area; MS, coloured, on tracing paper. Separate sheets of paper, affixed to each map, bear the titles: (1) 'Areas referred to in the Agreement between Great Britain, France, Russia and Italy'; (2) 'Areas in which it is hoped that the Peoples of Turkey, Arabia, and the Caucasus... will subsequently opt for the assistance of the Allied Powers'; (3) 'Possible Redistribution of Ottoman and Arabian Territory on the Principle of Self-Determination'; (4) 'Possible Settlement of Arab Countries'; the sheets affixed to items 1, 3-4 obscure the original title ['A Map of Turkey in Asia']; the sheets affixed to items 2-4 also bear reference tables.
