Castle, y e shipw[r]igh[t] employed there by his Ma ys command by My L d Arlington 1668' (endorsement): plan of Brest harbour, giving detailed information on defences. Note, apparently by Castle: 'This harbour I have sownded with my owne hand all over'. No scale shown. Compass indicator. Bound with report, 'Castle's account by his letter from Brest', of 15/25 November 1668, concerning ships under construction, naval stores, sources of supply, and the payment of smiths, carpenters, masons etc. 'Castle' may be Thomas Castle, administration of whose estate was granted by the Prerogative Court of Canterbury on 28 July 1669 (PROB 6/44, folio 84).
