1 item (originally enclosed with a memorandum of 20 October 1873 by N Robinson at the Colonial Office) extracted from CO 96/113. Austria: Plan, elevations, sections and perspective view of 'workmens' cottages' to house workmen employed at the Vienna Universal Exhibition of 1873. Drawn by J Wright, Corporal RE. Lithographed by Vincent Brooks, Day & Son. The 'cottages', which were designed by J H Cundall and constructed by S C Hemming & Co, were large iron houses, each capable of accommodating thirty 'superior artisans' employed at the exhibition. After the exhibition the buildings were removed to the Gold Coast (now Ghana).
