6 items (all enclosures to a report of the Commanding Royal Engineer to the Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada on the subject of Military Reserves, 18th July 1836) extracted from CO 42/431 (ff 20-25). Ontario. Plans of military lands. (1) 'Sketch of the Military Reserve at Niagara [on the Lake] shewing the mode in which it is proposed to let the Ordnance premises now occupied by the establishment.' Scale: 1 inch to 300 feet, altered, incorrectly, to 1 inch to 450 feet. Compass indicator. (2) Military reserve: plan showing the land reserved for government at the landing place at Queenston on the west side of the Niagara River; and the proposed situation for wharf, stores etc. Compass indicator. Signed by Gother Mann, Captain CRE. Copy made 16 April 1835 by Henry Lizars. (3) 'Plan of the Reserve at Fort Erie'. Scale: shown originally as 1 inch to 40 chains and altered to 1 inch to 70 chains. The measurements on the chart show 1 inch to 40 chains to be correct. Compass indicator. Copy by Lt P J Bainbrigge, RE. (4) Amherstburg. 'Sketch of part of the Military Reserve at Amherstburg Upper Canada showing the mode in which it is proposed to let the Ordnance premises now occupied by the Establishment there...' Scale: 1 inch to 200 feet.. (5) Plan of Military Reserve at Point Edward, Lake Huron, with sections. Showing Fort Gratiot, Colonel McDougal's house, and lighthouses on American side of River St Clair. Copy of survey made by Roswell Mount, Deputy Surveyor, by an order of 13 April 1829. (6) 'Plan of part of the Town of Kingston shewing in yellow two lots...which are proposed to be sold, not being required for any Public purpose.' Scale: 1 inch to 3 chains. Compass indicator. (1), (2) and (4)-(6) by T G W Eaststaff.; (3) by J G Chewett, Surveyor General's Office.
