Description

Enclosure award and map of Alkham [Ewell Minnis] (parish), Kent. Map on two sheets. Map A covers the enclosed area only (88 acres) and shows the land after enclosure. Also shows post-enclosure field acreages, houses and uninhabited buildings (distinguished by colour), field boundary ownership, some named landowners. With border. Scale: 1 inch to 2 chains. By Thomas W Collard, Surveyor, 6 May 1847. Map certified for accuracy, 28 February 1849. Map B covers the whole parish / township (3203.202 acres) and shows the land after enclosure. Title on map states 'Plan reduced from the tithe commutation survey'. Also shows lakes or ponds, woods, named commons, footpaths or bridleways, houses and uninhabited buildings (distinguished by colour), church (coloured), named buildings, some named landowners. With border. Scale: 1 inch to 6 chains. By Thomas W Collard, Surveyor, 6 April 1848. Valuer: Thomas White Collard, Westgate, Canterbury, Kent, Land Surveyor. Dimensions of maps: Map A) 143 cm x 129 cm, Map B) 170 cm x 112 cm
