Description

Enclosure award and map of Ponsonby (manor and township in the parish of Ponsonby), Cumberland. Also includes Kirkland Moor, Pikehow Moor and Infell. Map on two sheets. Map A covers the enclosed area only (100 acres) and shows the land after enclosure. Also shows named commons, named gates, field boundary ownership, some named landowners. Antiquities shown: Ancient Camp (dotted lines indicate earthworks). Scale: 1 inch to 3 chains. Construction lines shown. Map certified for accuracy, 16 August 1853. Map B covers the enclosed area and some other land (900 acres) and shows the land after enclosure. Also shows named river (with direction of flow), named commons, parsonage, named buildings. With border. Scale: 1 inch to 4 chains. Valuer: William Dickinson, North Mosses, Arlecdon, Cumberland, Land Surveyor. Dimensions of maps: Map A) 56 cm x 77 cm, Map B) 106 cm x 152 cm
