France: two maps. (1) 'France II': area east of Boulogne and south to Lake Geneva. Manuscript additions show eastern boundary of France in 1814. Scale: 3 inches to 79 miles; scale bars also in French leagues, myriametres and post leagues, and German miles. Key to abbreviations and symbols; manuscript key to boundaries. Dimensions: 29 cm square. (2) 'France III': area south of Poitiers, from the Atlantic to Antibes. Inset: eastward continuation of the south coast to Ventimiglia, showing lands 'ceded to France by the K[ing] of Sardinia A.D. 1860'. Manuscript additions show eastern boundary of France in 1792 and 1814. Scale: 3 inches to 79 mile. Key to abbreviations. Manuscript key to boundaries. 39 cm x 27 cm. Both engraved by J and C Walker, as sheets of 'The Family Atlas'. Published under the superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge by Edward Stanford, Charing Cross.
