'Plan of the City of Washington in the Territory of Columbia Ceded by the States of Virginia and Maryland to the United States of America and by them established as the Seat of their Government after the year MDCCC' (1800). Over the title are two trumpeting angels holding a volume inscribed 'Rights of Man' and surmounting a coat of arms. Scale: 1 inch to 100 poles. Compass star. Engraved by Samual Hill Boston. With 'Description of the City of Washington' part of 'The Universal Asylum and Columbian Magazine' for March, 1792. Observations explanatory of the plan. The explanatory observations and notes on breadth of streets and surveying methods have been omitted from this edition but the notes on obtaining a supply of water from Tiber Creek are included . The notes 'In Mr. Hammond's no. 39' and 'J Russell, sculpt.Constitution Row, Gray's Inn Lane,' below the title.
