Weymouth and Melcombe Regis (Dorset). 'Pierce Arthur's Trigonometrical Map of Weymouth and Melcombe-Regis, 1857.' Map showing railway terminus for Great Western Railway and London and South Western Railway, and the 'site of Arthur's proposed bridge.' The opening is crossed by a drawbridge of the same construction, and is to recede on horizontal casters. This above the existing bridge. Includes slight hand tinting, and a compass star. The backwater shows a tunnel with one shaft in water and one ashore. Cartouche followed by an armorial device incorporating the name of the town. Drawn by Pierce Arthur, Civil Engineer, and lithographed by W Spreat, Exeter.
