Description

Short title: Hornby v Nicholl.

Plaintiff(s): Josh. Hornby, Nathaniel Hornby, and John Droning.

Defendant(s): John Nicholl, Thomas Nicholl, merchant, guardian of the person and estate of Benjamin. Cropley, a lunatic.

Subject of depositions: Meadow in the parish of Gaderby alias Gadesby (Lincolnshire), called "Holme Meadow" or "Brightman Holme. "Whether said meadow belonged to defendant Cropley, and in September and October 1687 was in the occupation of Thomas Jesson alias Jepson, and formerly in the occupation of Mr Pilkinton and Thomas Ditton? Whether the yearly rent of £1 6s 8d issueing and payable out of and for the tyethes of said meadow or holme, or of any other lands whereof the defendant Cropley was landlord and said Jesson tenant, was paid to the receiver of King Charles II, his land revenue, and was amongst other fee-farm rents vested in Francis Lord Hawley and other his said Ma'ties trustees to be sold, and was sold to plaintiffs Josh. and Nathaniel and John Orton (their trustee), since deceased.
