Description

Short title: Duke of Newcastle v Holland.

Plaintiff(s): The Rt Hon Henry Duke of Newcastle, Elizabeth Linley, widow, Sarah Holmes, widow.

Defendant(s): Joseph Holland, Francis Stenton, Jonn. Wilson, Edward Hartley, Henry Heath, Robert Swift, William Snowden, seven of the defendants.

Subject of depositions: Manor of Mansfield and the ancient water mills of Mansfield, Mansfield Woodhouse, and Suttons. Touching the custom of "suit and grist" to the ancient mills (i.e. grinding corn, etc.).

County/place: Nottinghamshire.

Date of commission: 28 November 1682.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 11 January 1683 at Mansfield Woodhouse.
