Description

Short title: Kelly v Mayor of Clifton.

Plaintiff(s): Richard Kelly.

Defendant(s): The mayor, bayliffs, and burgesses, Thomas Holland, Gilbert Staplehill, William Flewte Edward Cook, and others, the inhabitants of Clifton, Dartmouth, and Hardnes.

Subject of depositions: Quarries worked by plaintiff near the harbour of Dartmouth, and alleged obstruction to the harbour caused by stones, ejected. Customs dues paid by inhabitants of Kingswere to the harbour. Touching plaintiff's charge against defendants for hire of the ship called "The Crescent" for the service of the late Queen Elizabeth against the Spaniards.

County/place: Devon.

Date of commission: 16 November 1610.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 14 January 1611 at Kingswcare.
