Description

Short title: Bowes v Bishop of Durham.

Plaintiff(s): Sir Jerom Bowes, kt, brother of Ralph Bowes.

Defendant(s): Toby Bishop of Durham.

Subject of depositions: Manor of Eggleston, parcel of the possessions of Charles, late Earl of Westmorland, attainted, leased by the Crown to Ralph Bowes, and assigned by him to Anthony Arrowsmith, late of "Cottamondevyle" who was executed for felony. Touching the right of the Bishop of Durham to said felon's goods, and the jurisdiction of the Bishop between the rivers Tyne and Teas, and within the manors of Gainforth, Barnardcastle, Raby, Long Newton, Middleton, Teasdell, Westwick, and Branspeth. Metes and bounds, and customs of bishopric and manors. Survey. [The names of Edward Walgrave (sometime owner of Eggleston Manor, and William Bowmer, lord of said manor), are mentioned].
