Appellant: Richard Nugent Kelly, lieutenant in the Royal Navy and commander of the coast guard station at Cairn Ryan, and Thomas Hyham, chief boatman, William McWhirter, commissioned boatman, Thomas McMaster, boatman, and Hugh Kerr, extra boatman, belonging to the ship Clifton. Respondent: Joseph Bushby of Workington, mariner, Joseph Saunderson of Cockermouth, draper, and John Clifford Etches of Liverpool, butcher, owners of said ship. Subject: Salvage of the Clifton and her cargo. Lower Court: High Court of Admiralty of England.
